Dimension Four organized its annual musical evening at Rabindra Sadan recently. The programme, Purno Jyoti, featured Nupurchhanda Ghosh (picture), a protégé of Krishna Chattopadhyay, along with her students. Veteran film actress, Mousumi Chatterjee, was present to reminisce about Balika Bodhu, which had featured " Aji esechhi aji esechhi", a wonderful Dwijendrageeti. Ghosh with 70 of her students presented this song vibrantly. Ghosh commenced her solo performance with "Ora chahite jane na dayamoy", a composition by Rajanikanta Sen, in her inimitable style. She has mastered the charm of this style of singing, which was again evident in " Dhirey dhirey morey". "Badal jhum jhum", a thumri by Atulprasad, was pleasing and Ghosh proved her versatility in " Sachir anginaye" a kirtan. All the chorus presentations had the marks of vigorous training and rehearsal. Precise synchronization and coordination made them flawless. The performance of "Amra emni ese bhese jai" was spirited and that of " Balo balo balo sabey" soul-stirring. The accompanying artists were Dipankar Acharya, Bhaskar Roy, Uttam Mukherjee, Subhasis De, Anup Chakraborty, Alok Roychowdhury and Moloy Das. Pratap Roy played patriotic songs on the piano accordion and Rezaul Hussain Tito recited a piece from Nazrul Islam.

The Embassy of Israel, in association with the Dance Bridges Festival 2017 and as part of the celebrations of 25 years of partnership between India and Israel, presented The Empty Room, a dance performance by Ido Tadmor and Mira Rubinstein, at G.D. Birla Sabhaghar. It was a unique combination of different streams of art like dance, music and theatre. It was a comic-dramatic story of a couple dealing with life and difficulties, with love and fear, through their own language and movements. This duet was engaging and entertaining. Diya Naidu from India put up Red Dress Waali Ladki, a solo presentation. This was followed by a Mexican group presentation. The evening ended with a solo presentation by Surjit Nongmeikapam from India.
