Bhubaneswar, Aug. 10: A 20-year-old deaf and dumb girl today lodged a complaint with Mahila police here alleging that she had been raped by the instructor of the vocational training center where she was undergoing training.

The girl, who hails from Mayurbhanj district, said that the incident took place on August 7 at the training center run by the Union labour and employment ministry at Pokhariput. She was being trained in radio repairing.

The girl said she was running a temperature on August 7 and had informed the centre’s instructor Dheeraj Kumar Shrivastav about it.

“He asked me to take medicine. He even offered me a lift in his vehicle up to the medicine store. But instead of taking me to a medicine store he took me to his house at Baramunda where he kept me from 10 in the morning till 4.30 in the evening and outraged my modesty thrice. Being weak I could not even resist much,”she said.

She said though she was bleeding profusely, the accused continued to force himself upon her.

“Later, he left me near the institute. I told my friend Jashoni Hembram about the incident. She said that the instructor had attempted to rape her also two days ago, but she had somehow managed to escape,” she said.

Assistant commissioner of police Pradeep Pattnaik said that they were verifying the allegations.
