Bhubaneswar, Jan. 24: Acknowledged as one of Odisha’s most respected Odissi dancers, Minati Mishra, was felicitated with the 5th Guru Deba Prasad Das Samman at an event held at Rabindra Mandap on Monday evening.

The 75-year-old dancer once again proved that age is no bar for a dedicated dancer. The spectators watched Mishra with bated breath and wonder as she enacted the different emotions and sensibilities of Lord Shiva. Her Ananda tandav was a marvellous piece that showcased the dancer’s prowess even at this age.

Her second performance, Shiva Aham, was another recital that won immense appreciation.

After Minati Mishra, it was Malaysian Odissi dancer, Ramli Ibrahim, who took over the stage. He performed an invocatory piece on Ganesh Vandana and then moved on to Kalabati Pallabi and concluded with Astasambhu.

A musical recital by veteran musician Gopal Panda, Sangeeta Panda and Sarita Panda followed next. The evening concluded with a dance drama by artistes of Tridhara. The drama was based on poet Kashinath Nayak’s Sankshipta Ramayana.
