Bhubaneswar, June 28: Utkal University has extended the last date for purchase and submission of application forms for admission into various post-graduate programmes by a week. Earlier, the deadline was June 30, which has now been revised to July 7, said university officials.

Besides the sale of forms at the State Bank of India and Syndicate Bank counters, students can download the forms from the university’s official website (www.utkal-university.org) and submit it to the head of the department concerned by July 7. The cost of the application form has been fixed at Rs 150 while the entrance examination fee stands at Rs 200.

“We decided to extend the deadline so that students who appeared for their back paper examinations can also apply to us. Their results would be out within a fortnight but we would allow them to sit for the entrance exam. They just need to furnish their mark-sheets before we publish the merit list for admission,” said a senior officer of the PG central office. A university official said the sale of forms have soared this time as compared to previous years. Around 6,100 forms have already been sold at the two counters as against 7,000 last year. “We are expecting 2,000 more forms to come in. There has been an increase in sale of forms probably because more students are now opting for traditional and regular subjects,” the official said, adding the record of online forms is available with each department. Entrance exams would be held over four to five days in mid July.

The admission process is likely to be completed by the end of July. The counter sale of forms began from June 17 while forms were made available online from June 11, a day after the results of the degree colleges affiliated to Utkal University were published.

The university offers 27 post-graduate courses in arts, science and commerce streams while another 20 self-financing courses are also run on the campus. Classes are scheduled to begin from the first week of August.
