Jajpur, May 18: Two students were feared drowned today in two separate incidents in Jajpur while they were bathing in rivers.

In the first incident, at 8am on Wednesday, Abhisek Kumar Dash (18) got drowned while bathing along with three of his friends at Chhatar ghat in the Nua river in Bari.

According to the Bari police, all four friends went into the river together, but Abhisek, who did not know how to swim, got drowned when he went a little deep inside the water. Fire personnel, in association with local people, could not recover his body even after hours of search, said sources.

In another incident, Prasanta Majhi (15), a Class X student of Bhandaripokhari High School, drowned in the Kharasrota river today. He went missing while he was bathing in the river near Chitahata.

The Jajpur Sadar police sources said that Prasant, a native of Bhandari pokhari in Bhadrak district, had come to his relative’s house at Chitahata to witness Chandan yatra when the incident took place.

His body, also, is yet to be recovered, said sources in the police.
