Koraput: A tribal outfit called CPI Chasi Muliya Adivasi Sangh have put up banners in the district supporting veteran BJD leader Damodar Rout, who was sacked from the council of ministers and from the party vice-president's post last month following his alleged derogatory remarks against Brahmins.
Police said two banners were seized from Bandhugaon police jurisdiction area and no case has been registered. Through the banner, the outfit has demanded that Rout be inducted back into Naveen's cabinet. It has asked why no action was taken against three BJD MLA who were reportedly involved in the money deposit scam.
"If the state government ignores our demand, we will take it as a challenge and will decide our next course of action," reads the banner written in Odia. Supporting the Pradip MLA, the banner said Rout had not made any derogatory remarks against the Brahmins at the Malyabanta festival of Malkangiri.
"If the government fails to take action against the tainted MLAs, we will punish them," it reads.
However, the police claimed no such tribal outfit existed in the area. "We have seized the banners and no cases have been registered," said sub-divisional police officer (Laxmipur) Hemant Kumar Padhi.
On December 27, the outfit had put up similar banners at Ambadola, Muniguda and Bissamkatak areas of Rayagada district and had hailed Rout as the favourite leader of the tribals.
