Bhubaneswar, April 6: The development authority is planning an integrated township of 67 acres at Jagasara near which the Info Valley is coming up.
The aim is to ensure best possible amenities and comfort to IT professionals.
The satellite township that would be around 15km away from the city centre is likely to have a population of nearly 80,000 in five years’ time. Preliminary work on the project will start in the next three months.
The integrated township is so planned that the IT professionals can stay within 1 to 2km of their offices. Therefore they can walk to their offices and this in turn will reduce dependence on cars and ensure clean environment.
Named as Jagasara Greens, the township is being planned to house IT employees of Info Valley, the second such hub in the capital after the info city in Patia.
The Info Valley is being developed by Odisha Industrial Infrastructure
Development Corporation (Idco) on an area of 665 acres.
Bhubaneswar Development Authority vice-chairman Krishan Kumar told The Telegraph: “All kinds of facilities such as health-care, education, entertainment, markets, indoor and outdoor sports, park will be available so that the campus is self-sustaining and the residents don’t have to depend on the main city on their day-to-day needs.”
About the model of development of the township Kumar said the entire area will be divided into 25 pockets and each will be entrusted to a real-estate developer as per agreement.
Jagasara Greens is designed by Canada-based urban design major IBI, which is also designing the Bhubaneswar Town Centre near the railway station in Ashok Nagar. More use of pedal and pedestrian mode of transport and less emphasis on four wheelers is the focus of IBI’s designs.
President Association for Odisha Real-estate Developers (Aford) Umesh Patnaik said: “The project will be done with BDA.”
Master plan for the Info Valley is being done by Singapore-based design major Jurong International.
Head of Idco’s project management unit (PMU) Saswat Patnaik told The Telegraph: “Infosys has its campus at Info Valley with 200 IT professionals and many major Indian and multi-national IT majors are interested to open their unit here. There is also a plan to include electronic hardware manufacturing (EHM) units.”
Patnaik also said in the master plan for Info Valley there are also components such as business parks, malls, hotels and other facilities and scope of IT development.
Mrutyunjay Tripathy, a resident said: “The Infocity near Patia was not planned with a township in mind which created problems for the IT professionals who wanted to live near their offices. This is a good initiative.”
