An art camp titled ‘Fine Heart’ that started on May 1 at the Odisha Modern Art Gallery in Bhubaneswar has attracted several child artists, who are expressing their imagination in myriad ways.
The little ones can be seen brushing up their creativity with the guidance of professional resource persons who are qualified artists in the fields of painting, traditional art forms, paper mache, terracotta and so on.
The little campers are finding the art workshop helpful in building the self-confidence as well as creative excellence. Much more is in store for the coming two months, said camp organiser Tarakant Parida.
The classes are held in two shifts during the day.
“It is a lot of fun to create something beautiful out of waste or on plain canvas or paper. The best part is we are given freedom to draw or make crafts the way we want and with the designs and colours of our choice,” said Trupti, a 12-year-old camper.
Community service
As a part of the international community day of service, students from Sai International School organised a day of service in the city. The students visited the Missionaries of Charity on the May 7 and rendered services to the inmates of the old age home and orphan kids.
“The bonding that took place in those three hours was indeed heart-warming. Students of Class XI and XII took care of the toddlers and infants, cleaned their beds and fed them. It was a beautiful sight indeed,” said a teacher. The students also spent time with the elderly people listening to their words of wisdom and looking after them. They also planned a dress-up activity with the toddlers, where they dressed up as characters such as Spiderman, nanhi pari, kings, queens, police officer, soldier and Superman and indulged in fun activities and dance. There was also an art and craft session for the children where they made pieces of art with play dough unleashing their imagination.
