Three held for shooting constable

Police have arrested three persons, including the prime accused, in the alleged shooting of a constable. The cops recovered a pistol and four live cartridges from one of the accused.

Rourkela: Police have arrested three persons, including the prime accused, in the alleged shooting of a constable. The cops recovered a pistol and four live cartridges from one of the accused.

The police arrested Krishna Gupta, 23, the main accused, his brother, Dharmendra, 31, and Narayan Mahato, 32, on Sunday evening.

Sundargarh Town police station inspector-in-charge Ashok Giri said: "We booked them for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act."

The incident occurred on June 6 when Crime Branch constable Soumendra Sethi was shot at inside a beer parlour near Khamaripara Chowk in Town police limits.
