Bhubaneswar Feb. 11: Software and consulting company Tech Mahindra today launched its Saral Rozgar in the state to enable job seekers connect with prospective employers over a digital platform.
Targeting the undergraduate and job seekers from the unorganised sector, the aim is to provide a simple, easily accessible and low-cost service to those looking for employment with the help of their mobile phones.
The job seekers can access the service by buying the Saral Rozgar job card and register themselves by dialling a particular number.
The service provider would take the information about the candidates over the phone, create their online resumes and connect them with potential corporate and mainstream employers both inside and outside the state.
To make it convenient for the users, the service has been made available in eight Indian languages, including Odia.
Moreover, the employers can reach the candidates through SMS or voice call in their regional language. Candidates can then connect with the employers directly.
The cards are available for Rs 50, which will be valid for 60 days. If a person is unable to get a job in the next 60 days, he or she can purchase another card. These cards will be available in more than 5,000 telecom recharge and FMCG krana outlets in major cities of Odisha, said the authorities.
Speaking to reporters, regional manager (sales) Sanjit Kumar Mohapatra said that with over one million youths reportedly unemployed, the initiative aimed to engage two lakh job seekers and employers in the state in 2015.
At present, the Saral Rozgar has more than 1.5 lakh job openings in 100 plus job categories.
This service is also expected to eliminate the dependency on the intermediaries such as manpower contractors and agents, said Vivek Candok, vice-president, Tech Mahindra, Mobility.
According to the information submitted in the Assembly in March last year, more than 11 lakh youths have registered themselves in various employment exchanges of the state.
The authorities said it was the first-of-its-kind service for the unorganised sector and could also be accessed by candidates, who had not passed their Class X. It has engaged companies such as Godrej, Boyce, Whirlpool India, Kotak securities and many more.
