Bhubaneswar, April 16: A few teachers are reporting at the evaluation centres triggering apprehensions of delay in publication of the Plus Two results.

The Council of Higher Secondary Education has asked all zone supervisors to provide a list of the teachers, who have not reported to the evaluation duty, along with the reasons behind their absence. The list will be sent to the higher education department to initiate action against the erring teachers. Around 30 to 40 per cent teachers have remained absent at all the centres, including those in Bhubaneswar.

Council chairman Basudeb Chhatoi said it was important that the state government took disciplinary action against the erring teachers playing with the students' future.

"We will provide the list to the department and urge for a strong action," he said.

Action will be taken on all the erring teachers except those on leave due to medical reasons, he said.

The first-phase evaluation that was supposed to end on April 13 has been extended till April 18. It began on April 4 but had badly been affected due to the striking teachers, who did their best to keep all teachers out of the centres for six days.

The demonstrations stopped only after the teachers of 488 and 662 categories' associations called off the strike on April 9. However, calling off the strike has not made a major difference as a few teachers are turning up for evaluation.

The second-phase evaluation will start on April 18 in two phases to make up for the delay. The first phase will start at 8am and continue till 12 noon, while the second phase will go on from 12 noon to 5pm. The evaluation may take two to three days longer than usual, said Chattoi not specifying any date.

In another development, efforts are made to ensure all facilities such as drinking water and air-conditioning at the evaluation halls.

The delay in timely completion of the evaluation will subsequently result in delay in handing over the mark list to the CBSE for compilation of the JEE mains merit list. Plus Two results are a key component in preparing the list. The JEE mains 2015 rank list is prepared on the all India rank of candidates, based on the JEE mains 2015 scores (60 per cent weightage) combined with Class XII scores (40 per cent weightage).

This year, the CBSE set a deadline of June 10 for the state boards to send their results.

Till the last year, the deadline set by the council was June 25.
