Bhubaneswar, Dec. 2: About 300 students of Kharvel Nagar’s Aptech Computer Institute entered into a heated argument with the institute authorities demanding suitable placements.
The three-year certificate course includes two years of classroom teaching and one year of internship. The institute is supposed to facilitate students join companies as interns.
“Since the last three years they have been dillydallying in matter of internship. They don’t really bother about our future,” said Narsingha Sahoo, a student.
For the past few months, students have been urging the authorities to get them proper internships.
The institute had invited some local companies a few months ago.
When the students opposed, the authorities had invited companies like Wipro and Vodafone.
“However they wanted to take the students for their BPOs—something we were not trained in. We have been studying programming languages. How do they expect us to go and join a BPO? I cannot imagine how they can be so illogical.” said another student Aditya Lenka.
Authorities of the Aptech Computer Institute refused to speak on the issue.
