
Happy faces
Students of DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar, observed Diwali with much fanfare. They presented a number of performances to send across the message of cracker-free Diwali among their friends. The students from LKG to Class II stole the show with their performances that stressed diversity in society. Another dance drama performed by toddlers of the school threw light on the mythological importance of the festival. Principal of the school Bipin Kumar Sahoo, in his address, emphasised scientific aspects of celebrating the festival and encouraged the youngsters to observe it in a safe manner. Students of Mother's Public School, Bhubaneswar, also celebrated the festival of lights. Various cultural events were held. In the afternoon, the students from classes VII to X took part in a rangoli competition.
Science exhibition
Students exhibited over 400 projects at the 43rd science, mathematics and environmental exhibition and the 5th state-level exhibition and project competition at the Unit-IX Boys' High School. The exhibitions aimed to identify talent among students to study science and pursue a career in research. About 1,000 students from 30 districts, accompanied by their guide teachers, took part in the three-day event and presented models on the theme - Solutions for everyday life.
Swachh Bharat Mission
Around 35 children from eight schools visited the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and held a detailed discussion with officials on the different aspects of Swachh Bharat Mission and overall cleanliness of the city. During an interaction, mayor Anant Narayan Jena requested them to stop using polythene and plastics to make the city free from non-biodegradable waste. The event was organised by city-based voluntary organisation Centre for Advocacy and Research.
Rashtriya Ekta Divas
Students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, observed Rashtriya Ekta Divas to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31. They took a pledge of unity, took part in an inter-house quiz competition and debate to mark the occasion.
