Bhubaneswar, June 29: Prince Dance Group of India’s Got Talent fame caught the whole the country’s attention last year with their moving performances. This year, they promise to show us something even more better than last year.

The group is set to perform at the inaugural ceremony of the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games on October 3. Already having started practising for the big event, the team says that the show’s theme will revolve around India.

Lead choreographer Krishna Mohan Reddy said that the team’s strength has always been the Indian choreography elements attached to it. “We are going to be innovative and make it big for the Commonwealth Games. After all, it will be our first performance in front of an international audience,” Reddy added.

The team of 26 dancers had left TV viewers spellbound with their intricate choreography on themes like Kalia Dalana, Dasavatara and Sare Jahan Se Acha on India’s Got Talent.

According to the dancers, it was chief minister Naveen Patnaik who had suggested the group’s name to Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit. “He has always supported us,” a dancers said.

The Berhampur-based dance group is training 300 kids for the event. Reddy said: “We will require more than 200 dancers. We are training most of the students of our newly launched Prince Dance Academy, but we are still looking for more young dancers.”

Authorities have allowed the dance team to practice at the Berhampur stadium, as they needed a bigger space.

The group, well-known for their body painted dance items, will have some elements of it at the inaugural ceremony as well.

But is the group under any pressure for performing on such a platform?

Reddy says there is. “It is such a huge international event. Personalities like Prince Charles will be watching us. But we are practising very hard. With so many new dancers, the performance will depend on synchronisation.”

Though the performance for the show is planned, the troupe is waiting for the music and the final details like duration to practise more efficiently.

The inaugural show for the Games will be based on contemporary styles, the music for which will be designed by Sony Music.
