A car drives through rain in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The 30-minute shower brought the much-needed relief to the residents in the city, which was sweltering at 45°C. This is the highest temperature recorded in May in the last decade. Not only Bhubaneswar, but several other places in the state also experienced heat wave conditions. Temperature at 19 places in the state was hovering around 40°C. Angul was the hottest at 46.7°C. Meteorological officials said severe heat wave conditions would continue till May 29.
