Keonjhar: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly making a morphed pornographic video using the picture of a married woman and uploading it on social media.

The accused, Sushant Patra, a native of Keonjhar Township, was infatuated with the woman and had made romantic advances towards her.

The woman, on the other hand, did not respond. Upset, Patra made the morphed pornographic video to get back at her, said inspector of Keonjhar police station Suryakanti Das.

The accused was intent on defaming her. The victim is a 29-year old mother of two children. She stays in Keonjhar and works with a private firm. Her spouse, a rice trader, lives at Patana police station area and visited his family on weekends. The accused had tried to blackmail her by making the morphed video, she said.

Following the complaint lodged by the woman, the cyber crime wing of district police found the veracity of the allegation. After prima facie evidence was found against Patra, he was arrested.

The police said Patra has confessed to his crime.

The accused person, booked under Indian Penal Code sections Section 354-d (stalking), 292 (representation of person or any other object in obscene manner), 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), Information Technology Act, 200, section- 67 and 67 (a), was later remanded to judicial custody.
