Sambalpur, Nov. 11: A musical troupe, consisting of only blind students, left audience spellbound with their performance at Govindtola in the city last night.

The troupe, Vision Melody, is a cultural unit of the Physically Handicapped School of Bargarh.

The 15-member musical troupe sang several devotional songs during the three-hour open event near the Durga Mandap at Govintdola and regaled the audience with their renditions.

While seven in the troupe were singers, the other eight were playing the musical instruments. The Sarathi Sanstha, a cultural organisation, had hosted musical evening.

“I had heard about the troupe. However, I am really amazed to see the performances of the students,” said Tarpan Kumar Pradhan, a member of the Sarathi Sastha.

The viewers also appreciated the teachers of the school for their effort in forming the troupe.

Chief co-ordinator of the Vision Melody Abhaya Prdhan, who is also a teacher in the school, said: “The aim behind forming the musical troupe is to give the students a platform to showcase their talents and make them self dependent.”

Swagat Mohapatra, who is a singer in the troupe, said: “Sambalpur is my home town. I am an alumnus of the Physically Handicapped School of Bargarh. And I have been involved in this troupe since the day it was formed. I am really happy to perform here.”
