Software park to aid state's IT growth

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated a private software technology park here to facilitate and support entrepreneurs in the state.

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated a private software technology park here to facilitate and support entrepreneurs in the state.

The new facility will provide IT infrastructure support to homegrown and foreign investors. It had adopted the latest technology and processes to provide the best possible client solution across various levels and parameters.

City-based JSS Group has developed the facility. It had set up another software technology park in 2010.

Naveen said during the event: "Odisha is now one of the fastest growing economies of the country and has become a major investment destination. I am happy that software technology parks are being set up in my state that will help meet the needs of the budding entrepreneurs by providing them with a gamut of service, aiding to the overall economic growth of the state as well as the nation."

The facility will act as an incubation centre, especially for entrepreneurs, who will get infrastructure support.

Software Technology Parks of India director general Omkar Rai said Bhubaneswar had become the most sought after destination for IT companies. "In 2016-17, it had attracted around Rs 3,400 crore through IT investments."

Principal secretary of electronics and information technology department Ashok Meena said: "One of our important objectives is to bring investment to IT sector in Bhubaneswar and Odisha. We encourage local talent to start IT companies. A world-class IT ready infrastructure will encourage local entrepreneurs and foreign investors."

During the event, Naveen said the government had proposed to set up an electronics system design and manufacturing incubation centre and an information technology investment region in Odisha that would house IT, electronics hardware manufacturing and research development centres.
