Several petrol pumps greeted motorists wearing helmets with a red rose for adhering to the “No Helmet, No Petrol” rule, which was clamped from Friday.

The new concept, on the other hand, evoked lukewarm response in the city on the first day. Several bikers feigned ignorance about the fresh guidelines issued by police last month.

As a result, several filling stations were forced to supply petrol to motorists who did not have helmets.

Senior police officials claimed that they will deploy a home guard or a traffic constable at all 22 filling stations in the city to avert any untoward incidents.
