School kids' meet on fish

Fun at summer camp Young Metro

ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), under its Tribal Sub-Plan Programme, in collaboration with the state fisheries department, Ganjam zone (Berhampur) and gram vikas conducted a Tribal School Students' Meet on "Fish as Health Food" at Gram Vikas School at Gayaganda in Ganjam on March 24. Around 416 students from four schools - Gram Vikas Vidya Vihar, UP School and Saraswati Sisu Mandir of Gayaganda, and Ashram School of Rudhapadar - took part in the meet. Scientists and technical officers of ICAR-CIFA, and state fisheries officials made the students aware about the subject through direct discussions.

Time to chill

Jyothi Convent School, Bhadrak, organised a summer camp for students on campus from March 15 to 19. Principal Varghese inaugurated the camp in the presence of the students and teachers. Students interested in cricket, archery and music took part in the camp. The events were aimed for students to excel in their respective events and to follow such events as a career if they wanted. Punjab Keshari, Khagendra Nayak, Chandan Sahoo and Sangram Keshari Parida were in the lead role to train the students at the camp.

Women's power

Shraavani Foundation, a Bhubaneswar-based voluntary organisation, in association with Inner Wheel Club, recently organised a seminar "Sheroes - The Nation Builders". On the occasion, women achievers from different fields addressed young girls from schools and colleges and motivated them to come forward to help each other and collaborate on women empowerment. Shraavani Foundation has long been supporting the education of underprivileged girls in Bhubaneswar.
