Rourkela/Koraput: Operations resumed in Rourkela and Koraput on Monday to trace four missing persons trapped in the Rourkela Steel Plant's effluent tunnel and an excavator operator at a quarry in Koraput, respectively.

However, no more bodies have been recovered from either site.

The Rourkela Steel Plant engaged heavy machineries to dig out huge mounds of slag deposited over the years. The effluent discharge pipe is under this mound and the height is nearly 40 to 50ft. Starting Sunday afternoon, only the slags have been removed with the pipe nowhere to be seen.

At the Bariput quarry, the administration resumed its rescue operations to trace the second trapped person. "Efforts are on, but we are yet to locate him," said collector K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy.

Officials said at least 12 controlled blasts under the supervision of an Indian Army team was done in the past four days to remove the heap of boulders to recover the second trapped person.
