Relief for baba

Cuttack: Police have given a clean chit to Alok Bisoi alias Anand Atma baba in the murder of Ashok Patra inside Rameshawar’s Anand Atma Ashram in Salepur. Cuttack (rural) police have arrested three criminals involved in the murder. They have been identified as Chandra Sekhar Rout alias Tulu, 40, Madan Sahu, 40, and Paban Sahu, 35, of Chahapada village. Guru Das Kundu, superintendent of police said the three accused, along with Patra, had gone to the ashram to extort money from Bisoi on September 12. Tulu injured Patra when he tried to attack Bisoi with a chopper, inadvertently striking him, police said.

Body found

Baripada: A body was found floating near Hijila village on Wednesday. The body has been identified as that of Bhagat Tudu, 22, of Masinabila village, who was feared to have drowned in Budhabalanga river after he went missing. 

Child dead

Sambalpur: A one-year-old boy died after being electrocuted at his home on Bhatli Road in Bargarh Sadar Police limit on Wednesday. The deceased has been 
identified as Jayanta Bhati. The baby was electrocuted after he touched an electric heater when his mother was making tea. 

Arrest

Cuttack: Police on Thursday arrested three persons, including two nursing home staff, for selling an infant. The accused, identified as Nabakishore Behera and Miazuddin, worked as a pharmacist and office attendant, respectively, at Jansevak Nursing Home at Choudwar. The police said they had forcibly taken a newborn girl from Mana Kuanr after she failed to pay the hospital bills following her delivery on September 9. Later, they sold her to Sk. Rehan in lieu of the pending bills.
