Cuttack, March 1: Ravenshaw University authorities will once again provide a platform to students with unique innovations.
After a break of almost a year, the varsity has decided to organise its annual "Go Innovation" programme in a grand way from this academic season.
A university official said the programme was an annual affair that aimed to provide a platform to the students to showcase their talents.
However, in its earlier avatar, the programme was only restricted to commerce students. This year, for the first time, students of all the streams can take part in the programme.
"We have decided to include unique products made by students across disciplines at the "Go Innovation" exhibition that will be held on March 19," said Sanjay Satpathy, dean, students' welfare.
Satpathy said the programme had always been a huge success as it used to give students an opportunity to display a wide range of products, tools and other gadgets made from waste household products.
In the past, students had come up with innovations such as aerated cold drinks to rain alarm to remote luggage carriers, pen-cum-lighter, herbal eye mask and also a website.
As the students also have to name their products, it also encourages them to build team spirit in promoting an idea and subsequently coming up with a useful innovation.
"We are looking forward to the event as it gives us a chance to put our creative caps on by using simple household wastes and articles to make new products," said Somnath Das, a student.
A varsity official said the event would inspire the students to think out of the box and emerge as leaders.
"According to plans, the event will be organised in the administrative block to accommodate students, groups and others to display their products in a more spacious way. The best product by individuals or teams will be honoured with awards and certificates," Satpathy said.
