Rourkela: Two persons allegedly raped a girl, who is working in a fast food kiosk, in the Durgapur hill range in the city.
After committing the crime, the youths left the girl in the forests of Durgapur hill.
Later, she went home and narrated the incident to her family members, who then lodged a police complaint on Tuesday. The incident occurred on July 28.
The girl, who lives in a slum at Secor-20, was returning home from work on the night of July 28.
She was waiting for an auto-rickshaw, when two the accused youths approached her in an auto and offered a lift up to Sector-20 Square.
However, on the way they took the girl to the Konark Hall near Timber Colony, and then to the jungle near it.
"I was waiting for an auto-rickshaw. They approached me and offered me a lift. As I stay in Sector-20, they said they would drop me near Sector-20 Square. But, they did not go there, rather they took me to the jungle behind Timber Colony and kept me there for the night. I went back home and told everything to my family," she told reporters.
Speaking about the complaint, sub-divisional police officer P.K. Mishra said: "We have received the complaint on Tuesday morning and lodged it accordingly. We are investigating the case. She said she could not recognise them. She got into a three-wheeler. Based on her information, we did the spot verification. We are exploring all angles of her statement," he said.
