Rajas students
Bhubaneswar: Following a Supreme Court directive, the admission of students from Sardar Rajas Medical College, who were provisionally admitted in MKCG Medical College and VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research, has been cancelled. They will be reallocated and admitted in the state’s three recognised private medical colleges. These colleges will admit 36 students each. The choice locking for all candidates will start on Friday. Allotment letters can be downloaded on January 16 and reporting of the concerned institutions will be on January 17.
Bribe cuffs
Baripada: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught a community health centre accountant in Mayurbhanj while taking a bribe of Rs 2,000. The accused, Arajit Jena, was posted in Kuliana and was taking the money from a nurse Suhagi Soren for clearing a bill.
Teaching posts
Bhubaneswar: The higher education department has announced 1,625 teaching posts to fill up vacancies in the various non-government aided colleges. Applications will be accepted from January 15 to February 15. Interested candidates have been asked to visit the website at www.ssbodisha.nic.in.
Security plans
Bhubaneswar: Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the inaugural ceremony of the fourth Hockey India League on January 18 at Kalinga Stadium. While an official in the rank of deputy commissioner would head the security system, four assistant commissioners and eight inspectors would also be deployed.
Allowance
Balasore: A family court on Thursday awarded a monthly interim allowance of Rs 25,000 to Barsa Swony Chaudhary, the estranged wife of Rajashree Mohanty, son of former law minister Raghunath Mohanty.
