Rain relief and some pain too

Fire brigade officials and police remove a bamboo structure that fell on national highway (NH-5) near Kali Mandir in Baramunda following a heavy downpour on Thursday. While the maximum day temperature was 39.5°C, the downpour came as a much-needed relief for many. The city witnessed 22.5mm rainfall in 40 minutes. Many areas were waterlogged that affected the vehicular movement. Vehicles got stranded for over an hour on NH 5, as the road in front of Iskon temple was also waterlogged. Similar situation was seen in other stretches along the highway, as there is proper no drainage system along the road. Traffic was also hit in certain areas on NH- 203. Picture by Ashwinee Pati
