Balasore: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested a 22-year-old woman impostor from platform when she was extorting money from passengers in the name of checking their tickets and other belongings.
The accused, identified as Shradha Rout, is a resident of Sahidapur village in Binjharpur police limits of Jajpur district.
The accused in police uniform drew the security personnel's attention after she started checking the tickets and belonging of passengers. She had threatened passengers that she would impose fines on them for violation of various rail rules.
The GRP personnel initially assumed that she might be an employee of some other station of the state or Kharagpur, who was part of a surprise squad. But, they became suspicious after talking to her. She had tried to bully them by dropping names of officials and others. However, she failed to produce any identity card. Balasore GRP officer-in-charge Pratap Chandra Behera said: "The accused disclosed her name after a sustained interrogation. She was caught on suspicion. She was wearing police uniform without having any rank and wore an officer's cap."
