Bhubaneswar, Aug. 24: Accreditation of all government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state will be done by the Quality Council of India, a quality assessing organisation, from September 1.
The decision has been taken to ensure that the technical institutions maintain quality and uniformity.
At present, the accreditation is done by the Directorate of Employment, Technical Education and Training under the state government. The process requires annual inspection of the ITIs by a team of government officials. However, the directorate is often unable to conduct regular monitoring with its limited staff.
“The present system of affiliation is quite lengthy and cumbersome for both the institutes and the government. The new ITI institutes are growing every year,” said a senior official of the directorate of technical education.
The accreditation by the Quality Council of India will be a pre-condition for affiliation by the National Council for Vocational Training.
The Quality Council of India will verify the availability of infrastructure and training facilities at ITIs in accordance with the standards set by the National Council for Vocational Training. A website will be developed with all the facilities and guidelines for affiliation where the institutes can enter their data online and upload necessary documents.
