Bhubaneswar, May 28: The Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited, promoted by the higher education department, is all set to have tie ups with various universities of the state to replicate the digital university model of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited.
The digital university model will offer a blend of various advanced technologies to the universities. It will help them with a single entry one-stop solution for the problems of managing an ever-increasing number of students and colleges.
It will not only benefit the students but also empower the officials and authorities of the institutions to deliver quick and hassle-free solutions, said Santosh Birari, managing director, state knowledge corporation. The first meeting regarding this was held earlier this month, in which the higher education secretary, as well as the vice-chancellors of various universities, appreciated the proposal.
Birari said the digital university model would provide a personalised login to students once they entered a college and would be valid till they passed out.
“Students get various services such as e-learning, personalised exam schedules, competition alerts, job alerts, scholarship information time-tables, pre-filled examination forms, hall tickets and application forms for examinations and convocation online,” he said. “The entire student life cycle will be managed by the system. Starting from admission, employment alerts will be available to each student with a separate profile on the digital varsity,” he said.
The aim of the project is to increase the student enrolment count and substantially reduce the load on the campus administration.
The digital varsity will manage the online application processes, academic programmes, including the programme course definition and choice-based credit system, exam management, RTI compliance, accreditation and affiliation management,” Birari said.
