Protest called off 

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Administrative Service Association on Thursday called off its proposed decision to wear black badges as the government suspended the sarpanch of Galua gram panchayat. The sarpanch had allegedly assaulted the block development officer of Banpur.

Fraud cuffs

Bhadrak: A 25-year-old man was arrested for a bank fraud on Thursday. Pramod Sahu of Phalapura gave fake cheques and forged signatures to withdraw Rs 1. 35 lakh from the accounts of two people from UCO Bank.

Burnt alive

Berhampur: Residents of Bhaliaguda village in Gajapati district recently beat up and burnt alive one Purna Mallick, 45, of the same village suspecting him of practising black magic.
