Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13: Odisha has been selected as the pilot state for implementation of e-biz project, which will simplify the business process by providing integrated services to businessmen and entrepreneurs through a single portal.

The Union commerce and industries ministry has selected Odisha as a pilot state for launching the project. Infosys will develop software and provide technical inputs for the central government-funded project. With the system in place, businessmen will not have to make multiple applications to several agencies and departments to get required clearances and certificates.

“The system will act as an one-stop shop for all investment and business related information and services round-the-clock on a single portal,” said a senior state government official.

The system will allow single payment to be made electronically against a composite application form for multiple services and reduce the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs in complying with various regulatory requirements.

The portal will also create a platform for multi-departmental co-operation in data sharing, verification and service delivery.

Around 26 services provided by different departments of the central government and 24 services provided by various agencies and departments of the Odisha government are proposed to be integrated under one portal.

Major state government services proposed to be included in the portal are registration and filing of value added tax, central sales tax, professional tax and property tax, registration of micro, small and medium enterprises and business firms, approval of plans by factories department, issuance of factories licence, no-objection certificate from fire service department and the Odisha State Pollution Control Board.

Similarly, services coming under the central board of direct taxes, central board of excise & customs, department of industrial policy & promotion, provident fund organisation, employee state insurance corporation, ministry of company affairs, ministry of environment & forests, petroleum and explosives safety organisation and the Reserve Bank of India have also been proposed to be integrated into the portal.

Odisha chief secretary Bijay Patnaik advised the officials to include the services such as forest clearance, allotment of land and water for industrial use in this portal.
