Nuapada, Feb. 22: Niroj Mishra, the prime accused in a porn MMS case involving a Dalit girl that had rocked Nuapada four months back, surrendered in the court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) on Monday.

The accused was remanded in judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by the additional district magistrate of Nuapada. His accomplice Bharat Bhusan Behera, who had allegedly filmed the sex clip, is still at large.

Mishra, who worked as a health worker, took a Dalit girl Kuni (name changed) to the Patora dam site near Nuapada and lured her into a sexual relationship after promising marriage. His friend Behera allegedly filmed the intimate moments between two on a mobile phone. Later, the duo allegedly circulated the porn clip through MMS. They also made a CD of clip and circulated it in the market.

After the matter came to light in October, the family of the girl lodged an FIR with the Nuapada police.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case against the duo under Sections 376, 292 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 66 and 76 of the Information Technology Act.

After the case was registered against them, Mishra and his accomplice Behera managed to flee from the city.
