Bhubaneswar, July 6: A number of students, who had taken the Plus Two test this year, applied for rechecking of the answer sheets.
Out of the total 3,56,418 students, 25,610 have applied for re-addition of marks. This year, e-evaluation was introduced only for the science stream, in which 93,920 students had appeared and 75,434 had passed. Out of them, 16,783 have applied for rechecking.
Similarly, 6,183 students from arts, 2,184 from commerce and 460 from vocational education have applied for re-evaluation.
Council for Higher Secondary Education chairman Basudev Chhatoi said the council was handling the re-addition requests, according to the procedure.
"Since we had introduced e-evaluation in the science stream, we have been mailing the scanned copies of answer sheets to the students. They have been asked to go through the papers and get back to the council if they require re-evaluation. The council would then check and award fresh marks," said Chattoi.
In science, 75,434 students out of a total of 93,920 passed the examinations registering a pass percentage of 80.31, and in commerce, 22,391 out of a total 32,226 students passed registering a pass percentage of 69.48.
Last year, about 20,000 students had applied for rechecking. It must be noted that as many as 336 teachers were debarred from the panel of examiners for the annual Plus Two examinations 2015 for their alleged goof-up in the evaluation of answer sheets last year.
The list includes 13 teachers in government-run colleges such as the BJB College and the Rama Devi College in Bhubaneswar, the Government College in Phulbani and the Dharanidhar College in Keonjhar. The council, this year, had engaged 300 teachers for the work. Around 30 lakh answer sheets from the 47 zonal centres were evaluated.
