Bhubaneswar, July 1: The first selection list for admission in junior colleges of the state was published today.

The cut-off marks have been uploaded on www.dheodisha.gov.in.

"Students selected in the first phase of admission can also download their intimation letters from the website," said e-admission officer in-charge Mihir Das.

It is mandatory for the students to take admission in their designated colleges, failing which they will be debarred from seeking admission in any other college for this academic session, Das said.

Like every year, the BJB Junior College and the Ravenshaw Junior College have set the highest cut-off for the science stream with 90.83 per cent, followed by the Khallikote Junior College, Berhampur, and the Basic Science College, Bhubaneswar. Both the colleges had a cut-off of 87.67 per cent for the science stream. The Rama Devi Women's College set a cut-off of 84.67 per cent for the same.

Students, selected in the first phase, have been intimated through e-mails and SMS texts to take admission in the designated college between July 4 and July 8.

The second list will be published on July 15 and the admissions will take place between July 18 and July 21.

There are a total of 1,512 Plus Two colleges in the state with 4,41,220 seats. However, the number of applicants seeking admission in Plus Two courses this year has fallen by almost one lakh.

Only 3,82,593 applications have reached the department against the 4.5 lakh students who had passed the matriculation exam this year. Last year, the number of applicants was around 4.8 lakh.

This has triggered apprehensions on many seats remaining vacant, as the department had increased the number of Plus Two seats by 10 to 20 per cent this year.
