Plus Two admission changes

The state government has introduced changes in the Plus Two admission process.

Bhubaneswar: The state government has introduced changes in the Plus Two admission process.

This year, admissions will be done for vacant seats into the degree courses in science, arts and commerce streams off line through the Common Application Form (CAF).

Prior to that, admissions will be done in two rounds for seats in various in state-run, autonomous and private colleges. Each student will have to give a minimum of five choices during the CAF entry. From this year, the facility for a student selected in lower preference of choice to opt out from the sliding up process has been removed.

"This is to ensure that the student is not left without any selection," said Parameswaran B, joint secretary to government.

Also, online payment of CAF fees will be introduced from this year but the system of offline payment will also continue.

The students belonging to transgender category and persons with disabilities will be exempted from paying the CAF fees.

Students has to provide a mobile number which will be termed their unique ID during CAF entry to ensure delivery of SAMS-related admission and other details.

"Uniqueness of the mobile number will be maintained in the SAMS database for that particular session," he said.

All queries related to SAMS will be addressed by the Sanjog helpline that will be functional daily from 6am to 10pm, including weekends and government holidays for the entire admission process.

On Friday, almost a month after the declaration of the matric results, the process for admission into Plus Two courses began in the state.

This year, admission to the Plus Two courses will be done only through the online mode under project Student Academic Management System (SAMS) And admission in offline mode is strictly prohibited from the session 2018-19.

"It has come to the notice of government that some fake institutions are coming up with advertisements in print and electronic media for admission to higher secondary schools. Hence it has become necessary to put a check on them," said school and mass education secretary P.K. Mohapatra.

Students can apply online for their colleges of choice through www.samsodisha.gov.in from 11am to 4pm every day starting till June 16.

After submission of the their CAF through online mode, the students are required to submit an offline copy of it along with all relevant documents and admission fees at the various SAMS by the stipulated time.

The higher education department would publish the first round selection list of candidates on June 23 for which the admissions would take place between June 25 and 28.

Following the three rounds of admissions, classes in all the junior colleges would begin from July 19.
