Bhubaneswar, March 4: In order to boost micro, small and medium scale industries, the state government in association with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) is going to organise a seven-day trade fair here from tomorrow.

Unveiling the plan, state industries secretary, T. Ramachandru said: “The seven-day trade fair will provide an opportunity to the micro, small and medium scale enterprises sector to get connected to the outer world. It will be a perfect platform for those associated with this sector and interested in keeping abreast with the latest technological developments.”

NSIC chief manager, P.K. Nayak said: “The show would cover a wide range of engineering, manufacturing and allied industries. It will also be an ideal platform to establish new business contacts, renew old contacts, discover new market opportunities and enhance market access in India and abroad.”

Representatives from South Africa, Bangladesh and Thailand would attend the trade fair. “If they are influenced by the trade fair, the local industries sector will certainly get the benefits,” said Nayak.

Around 250 kiosks would be set up in the exhibition. “Small-time entrepreneurs have already formed a consortium and they will try to take orders from Nalco, Rourkela Steel Plant and other mega industrial houses,” he said.

Officials said market is one of the critical areas where micro and small enterprises face problems. In the global arena, they don’t have strategic tools and means for their business developments, unlike the mediums and large enterprises.
