Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to abolish the storage agent system basing on recommendations of the Wadhwa Committee. According to new scheme, rice-receiving centres will be converted into departmental storage ones. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the district authorities to ensure implementation of the new scheme and look after the supply of food grains to the consumers. The new scheme will be implemented in 35 places from September. Bhubaneswar: Thousands of devotees had to wait for hours in front of the Lingaraj Temple, as the rituals got delayed by two hours. The rituals, which were supposed to take place at 3.30am, took place at 5.30am, creating a chaotic situation. The servitors and the temple administration blamed each other for the delay. “The temple administration will ask for an explanation based on which actions would be initiated,” said Abanikant Patnaik, administrator of Lingaraj Temple. Bhubaneswar: In order to streamline the erratic supply of power to the city, the state is planning to set up an automatic sub-station at Chhatabara on the city outskirts. Addressing a speech at a workshop, energy minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said: “Orissa is going to be the power hub in the coming days. By the end of the 13th Plan, the state will produce 72,000MW of power. Similarly, all the villages in the state will be given power connection by 2012.” Bhubaneswar: From now on, the road from CRPF Square to DAV Square will be called as Binod Kanungo Marg after the name of freedom fighter and Oriya encyclopaeidist late Binode Kanungo. A resolution to this effect was adopted by the BMC on June 29.
