Bhubaneswar: Ten persons died from diarrhoea and related diseases at Taberu village in Malkangiri district. A team of health officials visited the village in the southern-most district and admitted that the deaths were due to lack of clean drinking water and heat-wave like conditions in the area. “The district administration has decided to deploy a team of two health workers in the affected village till the situation becomes normal,'' said the chief district medical officer. The region has a skeletal presence of health professionals and for 151 villages, there are only two primary health centres. Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old male bear died due to snakebite in its enclosure at the Nandankanan Biological Park on the city outskirts. The zoo authorities took the animal’s body for a post-mortem to the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology because they were surprised to discover the healthy animal dead in its enclosure. The post-mortem report found that the death happened due to snakebite. Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railways has decided to change the train number of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express with effect from September 1. As a result, 12421/12422 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express will run with its new number 22811/22812. Similarly, 12443/12444 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express will run with the new numbers of 22823/22824. In a related development, the ministry of railways has decided to introduce a new weekly super-fast train between Santragachi and Tirupati. The train will have stoppages at Jales-war, Balasore, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road and Brahmapur. The ministry has also decided to increase the frequency of Howrah-Yesvantpur-Howrah Dur-onto Express from four days a week to five days a week from Wednesday.
