Naveen to meet PC

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Delhi on Tuesday to attend the inter-state coordinaton meeting on left wing extremism, to be chaired by Union home minister P. Chidambaram. The meeting is expected to find out solutions on the growing Maoist menace. State home secretary U.N. Behera and director general of police Manmohan Prahraj will accompany Naveen.

Ceiling raised

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Monday raised the annual income ceiling to Rs 60,000 for urban areas and Rs 40,000 for rural areas for availing financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Henceforth, critical patients suffering from cerebral haemorrhage, paralysis, several injury in road accidents, more than 30 per cent burns and sickle cell patients can avail financial assistance from the fund. Earlier, the scheme covered only major heart and kidney diseases and cancer. The government has also decided that the BPL holders need not produce any income certificate. The government has asked the officials to put up signboards at the tehsil and block offices containing information regarding the relief fund.

Puri fest

Bhubaneswar:The upcoming Deba Snana Purnima will be held on June 15 on the Puri Temple premises. The deities would be given the ritualistic bath in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and return to the sanctum late after midnight owing to a lunar eclipse, said temple authorities. Expecting heavy footfall of devotees, the town authorities have laid down a strict regulation policy for heavy vehicles and two-wheelers and three-wheelers, which would not be allowed to commute on the portion of the Grand Road near the temple.

Anthrax

Bhubaneswar: State health and family welfare minister Prasnna Acharya on Monday assured the villagers of adequate control measures with regard to anthrax outbreak in Kandhamal district last week. He also said a doctor’s team had immediately rushed to Badaguchuka and Sanaguchuka villages of Tumudibandha block. The condition of 11 affected patients was under control, said Acharya.

Four dead

Bhubaneswar: Four persons, including two brothers of a family, died in a road accident on NH-5 near Raghunathpuur petrol pump. While three of them died on the spot, another succumbed to his injury at M.K.C.G. Medical College and Hospital. The accident took place when a truck collided with a Bolero in which the deceased were returning from Chatrapur to Berhampur.

Result

Bhubaneswar: Results of the Orissa Judicial Service preliminary written examination, which was held on May 25, were announced today. A total of 1,464 candidates have “provisionally” qualified for the next level — the main written exam. oll numbers of the candidates, who have successfully cleared the exam, are available on the website of the Orissa Public Service Commission (www.opsc.nic.in) and also on the commission's notice board. hese candidates are required to download the prescribed 'long application form' from the website. After filling in all details and attaching all necessary documents, excluding exam fee, the application must be submitted on or before June 28. dmission certificates would be sent to all the qualified candidates after confirming their eligibility on the basis of details and documents submitted.
