Bhubaneswar, June 29: Students eager to see their Plus Three admission results had a harrowing time today.

For hours together they had to wait as the website of the department of higher education (DHE) released the list on its official website - dheodisha.gov.in - on which the lists were to be published refused to open. Unfortunately, the website crashed because of heavy traffic in the afternoon and was thereby running slow throughout the day.

Students had a tough time checking their results. "I tried for over two hours but the website would not open. Initially, I thought my system was running slow and went to the nearby café but it did not open there either. I could finally see my results around 4pm," said Abhishek Patnaik, a student.

The first selection list for admission to Plus Three degree courses in the state was published today. The list was to be announced yesterday, but was postponed by a day. According to sources, the delay in publication of the results was due to a setback in updating Plus II admission data online.

"The admission process for the students selected in the first round will be held from June 30 to July 3. The second round merit list will be out on July 7 following which the admission process will be held on July 10 and 11," said Mihir Das, officer in charge of the performance tracking cell of the higher education department.

The third round selection merit list will be published on July 16. Classes will start for Plus-Three students on July 19. Admissions will be held for over 700 colleges in the state.

Around 2,34,893 students applied for various courses, out of which 1,57,188 students were selected for admission. The selected candidates include 75,137 boy and 82,047 girl candidates.

This year, the selection process hinges on the honours subject for the first time.
