Bhubaneswar, April 5: Online evaluation of physics, chemistry, mathematics, botany and zoology papers of Plus Two will begin tomorrow.
For all other subjects, the manual evaluation is currently underway.
The higher education department has written letters to all the principals of government and non-government colleges to ensure that designated teachers join in the evaluation work at their respective evaluation centres.
"It is a very serious issue that most examiners and chief examiners are not turning up. All examiners and chief examiners are requested to join evaluation work as per the orders given or else disciplinary action will be taken as per the Examination Act, 1989," read a directive from the additional secretary to the government Durga Prasad Behera.
Sources in the higher education department informed that all the evaluation centres had been asked to send detailed reports about the absentees. Action would be taken on the erring teachers, informed a senior official. The Plus Two evaluation process started on March 30 at 50 centres. About 10,000 teachers have been engaged for correcting papers. However, it has been found that around 3,000 teachers have not turned up for evaluation, which will ultimately lead to the delay in the publication of results.
A list of examiners who have skipped the evaluation has been prepared and they will be served with a showcase notice, informed the officials.
Earlier, apprehending that teachers would not turn up during the evaluation citing various reasons, the department had made it clear that absentees who cite medical reasons for not turning up would be referred to a medical board. The board would cross-examine their medical cases.
It has also been made clear that evaluators will have to compulsorily spend five hours at the valuation centres. One chief examiner has been appointed for eight assistant examiners. Besides increasing the remuneration fee of the evaluators, the fee for the centre superintendent, deputy centre superintendent and invigilators have also been hiked to Rs 70, Rs 60 and Rs 50 respectively.
