Bhubaneswar, Feb. 11: Gorge on dairy whitener, peda, khoa and bread without burning a hole in your pocket as Odisha State Co-Operative Milk Producers' Federation Ltd will introduce the products at its outlets from Saturday.

Dairy whiteners will be available in 50 gram, 200 gram, 500 gram and 1kg packs priced at Rs 20, Rs 72, Rs 170 and Rs 331 respectively, while Khoa will be available in 200 gram, 500 gram and 1kg pack and priced at Rs 65, Rs 145 and Rs 275 respectively.

Similarly, peda will be available in 100 gram, 200 gram, 300 gram and 400 gram packs and priced at Rs 35, Rs 70 and Rs 130, respectively. Bread will be available in three variants, such as white, milky and brown. Those will be available at Rs 20, Rs 22 and Rs 23 respectively.

Residents have welcomed the new dairy products, which will be available in the market at cheaper prices.

"I consider the prices of Omfed's new dairy products cheap compared to those available in the market. I used to buy peda and khoa at almost double the price from other sellers compared to the Omfed's rates," said Saheed Nagar resident Srabani Nanda. The average price of khoa in the city is around Rs 400 per kg.

Omfed has already witnessed a growing demand of the new products. "We have supplied a batch of khoa to a few selected outlets in Bhubaneswar. The stock got sold away in three days. We have supplied all the new products to other outlets in various districts," said an Omfed official.

At present, the new products will be marketed in the districts of Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Jeypore, Rourkela, Balasore, Ganjam, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. The dairy whitener, peda, khoa and bread will be available shortly throughout the state, he said.

Omfed has not only brought considerable improvement in the quality of its products and packaging style, but has also added new varieties of distinctive Odia dessert in its product range.

Rasogolla and gulab jamun, which Omfed had launched last year, has been widely appreciated by the consumers. The milk producer has also recorded a sale of 13 tonnes within a couple of months of its launch, said the official, adding the introduction of the new products would further help the milk producers increase their sale.

Yesterday, agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy launched Omfed's dairy products at a fair organised by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency in Puri.

Fisheries and animal resources development secretary and Omfed managing director Bishnupada Sethi, Omfed general manager Basant Mishra and other representatives also attended the launching ceremony.
