Odisha sets investment target

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 22: The Odisha government is likely to invest around Rs 1 lakh crore in various sectors during the 12th five-year plan.

Odisha chief secretary B.K. Patnaik announced the plan while addressing a symposium organised by Invest Bhubaneswar, an organisation that works towards attracting investments from abroad.

“Odisha has a tremendous potential for investors. The state government is planning to spend on various sectors. We are in need of professional organisations that will take up feasibility studies and prepare project reports. We want participation of investors, both from outside the state and country,” he said.

Patnaik added that the investments were likely to be made in the sectors such as power transmission, lift irrigation, connectivity, agriculture and horticulture.

The Odisha government is planning to spend Rs 5,000 crore for irrigation. Around Rs 12,000 crore will be spent in energy sector, he said.
