Sambalpur: A 35-year-old woman was found murdered in her house at Modipara here on Friday. The deceased, Arati Dash, was attacked with sharp weapons and her body bore several injury marks, said the police. Money-lending is suspected to be the reason behind the murder. One person has been detained in connection with the incident and investigation is on, said sub-divisional police officer P.K. Mohapatra. Bhubaneswar: Sambalpur police on Friday arrested two members of a gang in connection with various cases of murder and loot. The gang was involved in five murders and looting as many vehicles, said a source in the police. The arrested duo — Prashant Panda and Patel Nayak — have confessed to their involvement in several crimes, said a source in the police. Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Friday conducted raids on the residence of a draftsman of the central irrigation department on allegations of amassing properties beyond his official source of income. The officials raided Class-III employee Pravakar Prusty’s three-storey building at Soubhagya Nagar, a market complex at Delta Square and another at CRP Square owned by him. His office and paternal house in Dhenkanal were also raided.
