Bhubaneswar: The district and sessions judge court on Wednesday acquitted two accused in connection with the sensational murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor kids.istrict judge Bijay Kumar Rath set Ghanashyam Mahant, 37, and Ramjan Mahant ,34, free on the grounds of lack of evidences against both of them. CBI had arrested both of them on May 17 last year.

Kendrapara: Police on Wednesday arrested a 38-year-old Sanjay Sethy, who had posed as deputy superintendent of police (crime) and had duped a woman from Karandia village by promising her a police constable job. Sethy, a native of Bhuinpur village within Aul police limits , had provided her a forged appointment letter in lieu of Rs 1 lakh and gold jewellery. Later, the victim Sujata Parida lodged a complaint with police after she found herself to have been deceived, said sub-divisional police officer Nrusingha Charan Swain.

Bhadrak: An income tax officer of Bhadrak has been trapped by CBI sleuths while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a contractor. The officer Ramesh Pahadsingh came under the scanner of the central investigating agency following allegation from Baikuntha Barik.
