Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Ravenshaw University campus on Sunday after a group of students detained a city bus protesting against the alleged misbehaviour of its conductor towards five visually-challenged girl students of the university. he bus and two of itsdetained employees were later released only after Malgodown police assured the students to look into the matter. Sambalpur: An elephant was killed because of electrocution on Saturday near the Dangapal village under the Jamankira forest range of the Bamra wildlife division in this district. The forest officials said the elephant had gone to drink water when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses said that the elephant, on its way to a water reservoir, came in contact with an electric pole that fell on it leading to the death of the animal at the spot. Bhubaneswar: The State Commission for Women has started an inquiry into an alleged case of raping a minor girl in Balangir. The victim’s family members had alleged that the police instead of lodging a complaint detained the victim and her mother. The family of the victim had also approached the chief minister’s office for initiating actions against the offenders. Bhubaneswar: Dhamara residents in Bhadrak ransacked the guesthouse of a private company on Saturday night following the suspicious death of a girl. The deceased was identified as Sobhagyabati Priyadarshini Pattnaik, who was working as a civil engineer.
