Cuttack: Board of Secondary Education (BSE) officials announced the annual high school certificate (HSC) examinations-2013 will be held on February 20. The form fill-up process will be completed by December 24. The board’s president Dakhya Prasad Nanda said a question-cum-answer paper will be introduced so that students can write their answers in the question paper allotted to them. Evaluation will be done in March and results will be out in April. The officials plan to upload the question papers on the BSE website which students can use for future reference. Efforts are on to conduct supplementary exams immediately after HSC exams so that ex-regular students can take part in the admission process along with other students. Kendrapara: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a showcause notice to the state prison administration and the Kendrapara district police following allegations that the jail superintendent had beaten up an undertrial for refusing to cook in the prison kitchen. The national rights panel has sought for a compliance report from the authorities concerned within four weeks, said an official. Bimal Kumar Das had lodged a complaint with the Kendrapara police that the official had beaten him after he refused to cook. Das alleged that he was pushed to a boiled water container leading to a burn injury, the complaint had alleged. Jajpur: A 45-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter at Kalinga Nagar industrial complex area in the district. The victim’s mother had lodged a complaint stating that her husband Kailash Khatua of Manoharpur village had sexually assaulted her daughter in her absence. He had threatened the victim of dire consequences if she dared to tell others.
