Balasore: The central range revenue divisional commissioner Arabinda Padhi on Wednesday began a probe into the violent clash between the police and devotees during Chadak mela, the annual festival of Lord Chandaneswar of Bhograi.
The incident, which took place on April 12, had left several people, including policemen, devotees and civilians injured. It triggered sharp reactions from various sections. The government had ordered a probe by the revenue divisional commissioner.
Bhubaneswar: The Centre has increased the Revised Long Term Action Plan (RLTAP) annual aid from Rs 130 crore to Rs 250 crore for eight districts in the Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi (KBK) region, an official release from the chief minister’s office. The bodies of Sashi Mallik, 45, and her niece Pratima Mallik, 27, were found floating in Kaiyan Nala on June 30. They had been missing for two days. Sahoo, who has been charged with neglect in the treatment of the Pipili gangrape victim, was granted anticipatory bail by Orissa High Court on Tuesday.
Sahoo, along with two other doctors, were booked in the case as the girl was initially brought to the hopital in November last year. Earlier, the court had granted anticipatory bail to SCB Medical College superintendent D.N. Moharana and Capital Hospital doctor Milan Mitra last week.
