Three landmines found

Bhubaneswar: Three landmines were recovered from Sikapali in Malkangiri on Friday during a combing operation by the BSF. Security has been beefed up in the area. The district has been a hotbed of Maoist activities and many landmine explosions have taken place here in the past.

Exam case

Cuttack: Two senior officials of the Board of Secondary Education appeared in Orissa High Court in connection with a case pertaining to allegations of faulty conduct of matric exams and abnormal marking. Board president Satyakam Mishra and Nihar Ranjan Mohapatra were brought to the court by the Mangalabag police following a court order. The court was hearing separate petitions filed by three students, who appeared for the exams at a centre in Keonjhar.

Siblings die

Sambalpur: A brother-sister duo died of electrocution near Kuchinda here. The deceased were identified as Satyasindhu Mishra, 38, and Jayanti Mishra, 30. Jayanti was drying her clothes on the verandah of her house when she was electrocuted. When her brother rushed to her rescue, he too came in contact with the live wire.

Drug raid

Bhubaneswar: Excise sleuths arrested three persons, including a woman, and seized 50kg each of cannabis and hemp from Balakati on the outskirts of the capital. They raided the area after local residents complained of illegal narcotics trade in the area. The accused were produced before court after their bail pleas were rejected
