Bhubaneswar: The Railways have decided to felicitate three alert personnel who played a crucial role in averting a major train mishap near Muniguda station in Rayagada district on Tuesday morning. It was the presence of mind of a loco pilot, assistant loco pilot of a goods train and a gangman that saved hundreds of passengers travelling in the Visakhapatnam-Korba Express from danger. According to reports, Visakhapatnam-Korba Express was scheduled to pass through Muniguda station when the train was stopped after a gangman detected cracks on the railway line.

Bear attack

Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman was killed after a wild bear attacked her in Didingi forest of Kalahandi district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Dhanu Gouda of Kucheijor village in Narla police limits of the district. According to reports, the incident occurred when the victim had gone to the  forest to collect firewood.

Murder case

Rourkela: Chhend police claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the double murder of Easter Lenka and her niece Madhusmita Sahu and nabbed Easter’s second husband Braja Sundar Sahu in connection with the case.  Braja, who lived in Easter’s house, had killed the duo on September 26 night over a  property dispute and family quarrel.
